‘Giant’s Causeway’ Greetings Card Curlew Cottage Design
The Giant’s Causeway in County Antrim, where the slow cooling of basaltic lava has created an extraordinary pattern of hexagonal columns. When I was sketching there in the spring, a peregrine falcon flew overhead, so I have included one.
Size: 127 x 178mm, printed on 300gsm card sourced from sustainable forests, with a brown ribbed envelope.
In my making process I carve a design out of linoleum or vinyl, roll it up with ink and handprint it. I put a lot of time and thought into mixing my inks when printmaking. I apply the first colour to the linoleum, handprint it then cut away more of the image, mix up the second colour, apply, print and so on, building up layer upon layer. Some of the original prints of this image are still available in the Handmade Print section of my website.
