Greetings Card Brown Crab
A greeting card featuring my linocut print of a large Brown Crab. When I was a child I would spend hours fishing for crabs on a pier in Belfast Lough. We would smash a mussel and attach it to the line to use as bait.
The brown crab is the largest crab species found around the coast of the UK and Ireland. They have large and powerful black tipped claws. In order to grow they have to shed their shell. Their lifespan is thought to be 30-40 years or more. They are mainly nocturnal and hide under rocks, emerging to feed on mussels, whelks and even smaller crabs.
People who like my work often love wildlife, coastal walks, the sea, nature, sea creatures, the great outdoors.
In my making process I carve the design out of linoleum or Japanese vinyl, roll it up with ink and hand print it. Card size 135 x 135mm, white envelope 140 x 140mm. Blank for your message and printed in the U.K.
