‘Curlew On Guard’ Greetings Card
A curlew guards her precious clutch of eggs as it’s mate flies overhead, this image is from my linocut print. For me the haunting melancholy call it makes as it flies, evokes the beauty and often bleakness of wild places. The curlew returns every year to the same place, building their nests on the ground, extremely vulnerable to predators. I created this print for World Curlew Day to raise money for charities helping the curlew, as this beautiful bird is under threat of extinction.
People who like my work usually enjoy the great outdoors, country or coastal walks, birdwatching, sailing, nature and wildlife. In my making process I carve designs into linoleum, roll it up with ink and handprint it building up layer upon layer of colour. There are still some original prints of this image available in the Handmade Print section of my website shop; 10% from the sale of each print goes to RSPBni and Curlew Action.
Size 148mm x 148mm, printed on 300gm card sourced from sustainable forests, with brown ribbed envelopes.
